Joeva Dacalos Yap aApproximately eighty five (85%) of all Cesarean sections that have been performed in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Cebu Doctors Hospital, have been reviewed to determine the nature and extent of Cesarean section-related Morbidity, in terms of post operative infection that may have been attendant therewith. This descriptive research undertaking has immeasurably aided to generate an almost empirical statistical proof to analyze and test the few critically related events on Cesarean section mode of childbirth. These haunches, to be scientifically acceptable, have been translated into hypotheses. Then, these hypotheses have been analyzed and tested with the use of any available, yet appropriate, statistical techniques, even if only manually performed. The data gathered in this study have shown that mothers delivered by Cesarean section are abruptly reduced in number as the parity increases. The large majority of the availing mothers (60%) is younger at 30 years old or below. Further, the data show that the incidence of infection among the cases studied is higher at 28%, when compared to the usual rate, which is a little less than 22%. An incisive look at the relationship between the occurrence of infection and the critical events specified in this investigation reveals that, without an iota of intent of slurring at ones technical competence, the infection rate is quite high among the senior consultant, at 16.3% of the total cases studied, than among the resident physicians on training in the Department, with 11.7%. Although, the test of hypothesis by Chi-Square technique reveals that the observed difference is not large enough to be statistically, significant x2=.006 p less than .05. Whether the surgical time of performance was less or more than one hour, the rate of infection did not statistically differ. Almost sixty (60%) percent of the cases of infection occurred in only twenty percent of them. The relative increase of these types of infection, while seemingly not preventable by the massive prophylactic Antibiotic, certainly contributes to the lengthened hospitalization of the paying patients. Finally, figure 5 shows a simple line graph that loudly confirms that no matter how much Antibiotics had been administered to the post operative Cesarean cases, Morbidity rates seem to be obstinately persisting. The figured line graph simply confirms that while Non-use of Antibiotics increases in rate, the rate of infection conversely declines.
