<subfield code="a">OBJECTIVE: To determine the extent of knowledge, attitudes and practices of Filipino family physicians toward the Family Wellness Program

DESIGN: Descriptive, cross-sectional study. Use of self-administered questionnaire developed by the researchers

SETTING: Philippine Academy of Family Physicians(PAFP) activities: 1) 8th National Midyear Convention, 2) the 1996 Orientation Courses, and 3) the 1996 Research modules. The study frame was from March 1996 to March 1997

PARTICIPANTS: There were 324 family physicians who registered for the activities mentioned who were given the questionnaires. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Analysis of the Responses on the 3 - part questionnaire on their knowledge, attitude and practices were done using descriptive statistics. Data coding and storage used the Dbase 3+ and data processing used the Statistical Analysis System software

RESULTS: There were more female respondents than males (2.5:1). The mean age was 39 years old with the youngest at 24 the oldest at 81 years old. One hundred fifty seven (48.8%) reported knowing the program and with 305 (94.1%) were willing to adopt the program in their practice. However, there were already 315 (97.2%) observing the program

CONCLUSION: The survey showed that physicians may not know the program in theory, but they are already practicing it. The attitude of the physicians suggest that they are positively predisposed to adopt the program.
