During the novel coronavirus disease (‎COVID-19)‎ pandemic, the worldwide attention has been drawn to emergency response to cope with surge in limited healthcare resource settings. Some countries have developed novel strategies in transforming non-health facilities public facilities and hotel accommodations into temporary isolation facilities for managing mild COVID-19 patients who do not require hospitalization. These strategies have proven effective in allocating the limited health-care resources more efficiently.
This interim guidance provides stepwise recommendations on minimum standards of repurposing existing premises into isolation facilities to cope with the surge of patients with mild COVID-19 symptoms who do not require immediate hospitalization.
