This Handbook provides a comprehensive listing of the most widely used indicators for evaluating family planning programs in developing countries. The indicators are organized according to the conceptual framework developed under the EVALUATION project. The specific objectives of this Handbook are: to differentiate the levels for which family planning indicators are needed (program versus population level); to compile those indicators judged most useful in family planning program evaluation into a single volume; to provide a definition of these indicators to enhance the consistent use of terms across programs, countries, and donor agencies; and to promote evaluation of programs by making indicators better known and easier to use. Spanish- and French-language versions of this publication are available.
